Aeris Communications is a premier provider of business IoT solutions and infrastructure. IoT is a rapidly-changing field, with processes and standards that evolve constantly as technology and adoption grow. Aeris CTO Syed Zaeem Hosain first published “The Internet of Things for Business” in November, 2015. With the latest edition, Aeris aimed to distinguish itself as an established player among a crowd of startups. Along with a complete redesign of the book for print and web, Aeris wanted to create t-shirts, posters, enamel pins, a set of digital ads and a web landing page to promote the book’s release.
The book presents a visionary perspective on the current state of IoT and its future implications. Our goal was to make the book clear and concise, while elevating the design aesthetic to match the book’s content. We coupled a strong grid system with geometric shapes and lines—a nod to IoT’s underlying infrastructure. Leveraging Aeris’s vibrant color palette, each chapter is color-coded for ease of navigation. IoT is widely varied, with physical, digital and organic components. In juxtaposing photography, geometric forms and vector illustrations, we capitalized on the technology’s versatility while adding visual rhythm to the book. Each chapter includes a break spread with a field of color and a large photo, followed by an opening spread featuring a unique illustration matching the chapter’s content.
With a strong visual identity that carries through from cover to cover, the third edition of the book positions Aeris as the IoT company. The depth and breadth of content are unique, and the book’s look and feel distinguish it from existing IoT guides. While the book successfully serves to promote Aeris’s offerings, it is also an educational tool with extensive applications beyond marketing. Equipped with a wide gamut of assets that tie together visually, Aeris is able to reach a broad audience and connect with a new sector of potential customers. The field of IoT is constantly evolving, but the book’s aesthetic is on the pulse of the latest technologies, and the 3rd edition will carry Aeris well into the next phase of connectivity.
