Summer is just not complete without those seasonal activities and experiences. As an homage to our “bite-sized” Ocean State, we’re listing our team’s top 10 favs. If you’re a local, you know what we’re talking about, and if not come visit – and start a summer tradition!

Clam Cake Crawl

Get your score cards out, and gather the team. This annual tradition is our first “must” for Rhode Island summers. There are a whopping 11 seafood shacks that serve up this delicious fried treat. Aunt Carrie’s, Iggy’s and Blount are just a few. Start the marathon!

Baseball Games at McCoy Stadium

Our bucket list wouldn’t be complete without the true “bucket.” Having been open for 77 years, this baseball stadium in Pawtucket is a historic icon. Minor league games, fireworks, and concerts keep the season in swing. Make this your last game to remember!

Music at Newport Folk Festival

Beginning in 1959, this famous seaport has been hosting some of the biggest musicians at Fort Adams State Park. Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger have been historical figureheads, with new eclectic acts joining over the years.

Providence River Boat Ride

There’s no better way to discover of Downtown Providence than exploring its reclaimed waterways. Join Providence River Boat Co. to enjoy the city views & expert narration from your tour guide. For a truly one-of-a-kind experience, ride during Waterfire!

Drive-in Movies

Avoid the crowded cinemas and experience summer blockbusters the old-fashioned way. Check out Rustic Drive-In in North Smithfield for old and current flicks and awesome double-features. Put it in park, tune into the audio and enjoy the popcorn!

Race Week on Block Island

What’s the Ocean State without a little sailing? This annual race presented by the The Storm Trysail Club runs over the course of 5 days. Mini-races and courses around the entire island round out this nautical competition.

Rhody Frozen Beverages

Stop at the sign of… Rhode Island has some of the most niche and beloved frozen drinks. Whether it be ice-cold coffee milk, cabinets (shakes) or the citrusy Del’s Lemonade, we have it all.

Kite Flying at State Parks

Bring the family and pack a picnic. Our state has some of the region’s top coastal parks. Narragansett Bay winds are perfect for flying kites of any size. Check out the Newport Kite Festival this July!

Sand Castles on the Beach

Our special taffy bucket has another use if so desired—sand castles! Rhode Island is home to some of the largest and most gorgeous beaches in New England:1st beach in Newport, East Matunuck, and Crescent Beach on Block Island, to name a few.

This annual culture takeover resides in our creative capital. World-renowned performances of music, theater and art installations electrify the city for 3 memorable days.Come visit!
